Balboa Park Golf Course

The public Balboa Park Golf Course has both an 18 hole golf course and 9 hole executive golf course. In addition, the Balboa Park Golf Course has a driving range, practice putting greens, golf shop, club rentals, golf cart rentals, and private lessons.

Take I-5 to Pershing Drive exit near downtown. Turn right onto 26th Street. Turn left onto Golf Course Drive. The Balboa Park Golf Course clubhouse will be on the left.

The 18 hole course is par 72 and the 9 hole course is par 32 (white tees) and 35 (red tees). The 18 hole course offers blue tees playing 6,267 yards, white tees playing 5,801 yards, and red tees playing 5,369 yards.

Weekday golf course fees are $36 for the 18 hole course and $15 for the 9 hole executive course. On weekends, the course fees are $45 for 18 and $19 for the 9 hole executive course.

Discounts are available for being a junior under 17 years old, for being a senior, for playing after twilight 2:30 pm, and if you are a San Diego resident and bought the annual membership card. Except the San Diego resident discount, none of these discounts apply on weekends.

Golf cart rentals are $26 for 18 holes and $12 for 9 holes. Golf club rentals are $20 for 18 holes and $10 for 9 holes.

Mount Woodson Golf Course

Mount Woodson Golf Course which is a Schmidt-Curly design is one of Southern California's best golf courses. The Mount Woodson Golf Course offers a challenging round of golf in a a natural setting that is truly breathtaking. The fairways are set among very old and large oak trees, huge granite boulders and several beautiful lakes. Golf Digest describes Mt. Woodson Golf Club as one of the "most beautiful, unique courses in California" noting the amount of care taken to preserve its look and the plentiful panoramic views of San Diego's countryside.

Clearly one of Southern California's most enjoyable courses to play, the Mount Woodson Golf Courses is well known for the many steep changes in elevation throughout the course. The elevation changes have resulted in some fitting hole names such as the "Drop Off," "Tree Tops," "The Chute" and "The Plunge." The course is truly designed for the traditional shot making golfing game, where accuracy is rewarded.

One of the centerpieces of the course is a historic 1921 estate that is now known as the "Mount Woodson Castle". This fantastic architectural structure is one of the earliest examples of the California arts and crafts movement.

Take I-15 north to the Scripps Poway Parkway east exit. Follow Scripps Poway Parkway till it ends at Highway 67. On Highway 67 turn North and then make a left on Archie Moore. Follow Archie Moore straight to Mount Woodson Golf Course clubhouse entrance on your left.

Riverwalk Golf Club

Riverwalk Golf Club located along the San Diego River is one of the nicest golf courses in San Diego. With 27 challenging holes that have hosted PGA tour events in the past, the Riverwalk Golf Course is a treat to play. The signature hole has a green which is surrounded by waterfalls. A relaxing place to play a round of golf the Riverwalk Gold Course is open to the public year round.

The Grand Del Mar Golf Club

The Grand Del Mar Golf Club is truly one of the top courses in Southern California and maybe one of the finest courses open to the public in the United States. Designed by well known golf pro Tom Fazio, the 7,160 yard par 72 extremely green golf course offers challenging holes in a course that is perfectly blended into the natural environment. The price of a round is rather steep compared to some of the other golf options you have around San Diego which can get you playing for around $35 - $60. However, the high quality of this course compared to those other courses explains the difference in price. Course Fee is between $200 - $250 depending on the day of the week and whether it is winter or summer. Twilight after 2pm is $125 - $150. Teenagers are 1/2 price.
