San Diego State University

San Diego State University is one of the top party schools in the country. Very heavy in fraternity and sorority life, the SDSU students know how to have a good time in the Greek life or at a house party. However, SDSU is not all about partying because the academic program for undergraduates is relatively strong. Graduate school at SDSU is not nearly as strong as the undergraduate academic programs but the business school ranks pretty well nationally.

San Diego State University reputation as a party school does not come without merit. Walking around campus for a few minutes will make you realize that this school has to have one of the highest percentage of beautiful college women in the country. A dream come true for many of the male students who attend the school. Though Greek fraternity parties make up a great deal of the partying going on here, many house parties are also thrown on a near nightly basis around campus. Recent successful crackdowns on drugs at the school has had a positive effect at cleaning up the campus. Division I sports teams are nationally recognized especially in basketball and football. The football team has both been pretty weak for quite some time and the basketball program has been up and down.

Educationally SDSU is an inexpensive option for in state California students. In general most students do concentrate on their studies here and the academic programs are for the most part pretty good. With beautiful San Diego weather and an appealing campus, SDSU becomes an enjoyable place to get a higher education.

University of California San Diego

University of California is located in the beautiful area of La Jolla. However, when the best thing to say about the school is the location that is not usually a good thing. The students who attend the school more often than not say they would not come back here if given choice. The education received at the school is pretty decent despite large classes and inaccessible professors. The social life is as non-existent as can be considering the school is located in one of the best social cities in the entire world.

The school is often referred to as a commuter school as many students go home on the weekends. The appearance of campus buildings offer very little in terms of adding to the overall value of the school and in general the campus looks like a very large community college.

University of San Diego

University of San Diego is one of the most beautiful schools in the entire United States. Being situated on top of a hill USD has some amazing views of San Diego and the Pacific Ocean. The campus architecture, layout and amenities add to the overall value of the school. Social life and academic programs are rated near the top compared to the other San Diego colleges. USD also has a pretty strong Law School program. Students often complain that when they say they go to USD people get confused thinking they actually go to UCSD or SDSU. The school is affiliated with the Catholic Church.

However, not everything is great at the University of San Diego. One of the knocks on the school known as "The Country Club on the Hill" campus is not in walking distance to anything and the school lacks diversity. The price of the school is outrageously expensive. The school's does not offer a huge selection of majors to choose from especially if you are interested in something other then business or communications. Parking is difficult and the campus security is extremely strict, quickly calling the San Diego Police Department if you are suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. But in general the social scene at off campus parties is quite good, especially considering the fact that the general belief among students is that the entire student body is very good looking.

Point Loma Nazarene University

Point Loma Nazarene University could be the best location for a college anywhere. PLNU sits on the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean given access to students to some of the most remote beaches anywhere. Situated in walking distance from the famous views of Sunset Cliffs and the excitement of Ocean Beach, Point Loma Nazarene is a wonderful place to go to school.

This Chrisitian school does place a certain amount of importance on religion including mandatory weekly attendance at the school's chapel. Student reports on the academic programs at the school very widely, with some saying the academics are very good while others say they leave a lot to be desired. As should be expected from a relatively expensive school the student body is generally well off and most come from upper-class families.

From surfing to running along the cliffs to hitting baseballs over the fence and into the Ocean, Point Loma Nazarene is definitely a place for an outdoor loving student.

If you want to check out the very secluded cliffs and beaches just mention to the attendant at the security gate that you want to go down to the beach and they will let you in without any problems during daylight hours.
